The world as I see it

it’s about sea and lake…

My life here in Sulawesi can not be separated from water, I would say. From lake that is right in front of my eye to sea that is only about an hour away from where I live now…

We gathered that morning around 6.30 in the airport, got ready to go to this island called Bulupoloe.

Bulupoloe is located in Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi. From Sorowako we drove around 1,5 hour to Batu Menggoro and than took traditional motor boat for around one hour toward Bone Gulf.

It is just like an usual lonely island. But, it is not the island that you want to see, it is the underwater that hold the treasure.

The team (excluded me and two of my friends that never dive before) started their preparation for the reef check which was the main purpose of the trip. After done with this check, they will then do the fun diving. As for us, we were there for Discovery Dive which means that we are going to dive until a certain level of depth with a dive master accompany each of us.

You got all this emotion the first time your body dropped below water level : exciting, fear, curious.. all at the same time. And then, as you body dropped deeper to the sea, you got this sensation of being push from all direction by unseen force that create headache, headache that is so painful and could cause panic grow larger within you. When you reach this point, try to swallow your saliva to neutralize the pressure changing and you’ll feel more relax and will start to enjoy your surrounding. Well, at least that’s the theory even though sometimes it’s hard to do it because your throat has been so dry because of the salt water.

it's about being calm...

it’s about being calm…

Anyway, underwater habitat in Bulupoloe is beautiful and is worthy to be seen…

Lake Matano is the 10th deepest lake in the world. Located in Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi, this lake is located side by side with Sorowako where I’ve been live for this past two months.

This morning me and some colleagues decided to go for rafting on the lake. With a beautiful sunshine welcoming us in the morning, we began the tour..
